Chhath Pooja Bihar & Jharkhand 2010

Chhath in Hindi: छठ is an ancient Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Surya, the Hindu Sun God, It is the main festival of Bihar and Jharkhand State. It is also celebrated in the Terai regions of Nepal and where migrants from those areas have a presence, it is celebrated in all regions and major urban centers in India.
The rituals of the festival are rigorous. It is observed over a period of four days. They include holy bathing, fasting and abstaining from drinking water (Vratta), standing in water for long periods of time, and offering prashad (prayer offerings) and aragh to the setting and rising sun.In local language it is known as Nahaye Khaye , Kharna and offering Aragh to setting and rising Sun
